Rosemount is experiencing significant growth and development across various sectors, reflecting the city’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, public safety, and community amenities.
Infrastructure Improvements
The city has initiated several infrastructure projects to support its expanding community. Notably, the construction of Driver Avenue, a new north-south road adjacent to the upcoming FedEx distribution center, is nearing completion. This road will connect County Road 42 with 140th Street, serving as the primary access for the new distribution center and facilitating additional business park developments in the area.
Additionally, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has commenced a research project on southbound Highway 52 in Rosemount. Starting May 14, weekday lane closures are in effect to allow crews to apply and evaluate over 150 different pavement markings. This study aims to assess the performance of various markings under real-world conditions, including Minnesota’s diverse weather patterns.
Public Safety Enhancements
In response to evolving community needs, Rosemount is in the final stages of designing a new facility to house its Public Works and Police Departments. Located on Biscayne Avenue, this 160,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve the city’s growing needs for decades to come. The campus will feature new offices, meeting rooms, and training spaces to fully house both departments under one roof, a much-needed emergency operations center, support for the city’s focus on mental health in policing, hosting regional training events and community meetings, and expanded space for fleet maintenance and equipment storage.
Community Growth and Development
Rosemount has attracted significant investments, including Meta’s (formerly Facebook) plans to establish a data center in the city. This $800 million investment is expected to generate 1,000 construction jobs at its peak and 100 permanent positions once operational. Collaborations with the city and Xcel Energy have led to local infrastructure enhancements, including energy upgrades and new transmission lines in the UMore area. Additionally, water line expansions will facilitate future development towards Highway 52 and southward within UMore Park, setting the stage for additional business park development.
These developments underscore Rosemount’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, safe, and well-connected community, ensuring that the city continues to thrive and meet the needs of its residents.
